Context Provider

If you need to use the IdleTimer API in child components, you may want to consider using the Context Provider. Rather than prop drilling through your App's hierarchy, you can use the IdleTimerProvider to add the API as context to child components.

Usage#

Functional Components#

For functional components, you will be using the IdleTimerProvider component and the useIdleTimerContext hook.

Class Components#

For class components, you have a few options depending on where you are using the API. If you only need to use the API within your render method, you can use the IdleTimerConsumer.

If you need to consume the IdleTimer API outside of jsx, you can set the contextType on the consuming class.

To preserve types for your component's context, declare the type for the component's context property.
